It is going to be a warm one across most of Upper Michigan today, with high temperatures reaching into the upper 80s and low 90s. The record high temperature for today, at the NWS-Marquette, is 88 degrees and was set in 1993 and tied in 1994, so we definitely have a chance at beating this record by a couple of degrees. Also keep in mind that the Michigan DNR has burn restrictions across the U.P. with relative humidity values dropping to around 30 to 35 percent by mid afternoon. For more information on burn restrictions please visit the following link:

Converging lake breeze boundaries will trigger more scattered showers and thunderstorms today over inland areas of central and eastern Upper Michigan. Expect highs today mainly in the 70s with lows tonight ranging from the mid 40s inland to the 50s near the Great Lakes shores. Fall-like weather is expected by Friday in the wake of a strong cold front. High temperatures will drop into the low to mid 60s under the threat of scattered lake effect rain showers.

A high risk of rip currents will continue today due to gusty north winds and high waves along the Marquette and Alger County beaches. Water rescues were performed on Lake Superior yesterday, when we also had a high risk of rip currents in the forecast. Take extra caution around the water today!

Sorry yall for the weather station being down all day. I had no idea it wasn't up and running correctly until I got home tonight. I spent the day fishing with my Brother in Law I'll get the station up and running again in the morning.

Building high pressure behind a cold front will result in drier and generally cooler conditions today into tonight. An upper disturbance moving into the area on Wednesday will bring increasing clouds from the west along with a chance of showers and thunderstorms for western Upper Michigan.
